Bidding & escrow

Bidding lets buyers offer less than the asking price while guaranteeing sellers always get paid. Every bid on certed.one is backed by escrow.

Placing a bid

On any active listing you don't own, you can place a bid in CTD. The moment you bid, the amount is escrowed — debited from your balance and held — so the offer is always genuine. You can hold one active bid per listing at a time.

Withdrawing a bid

Changed your mind? Withdraw your active bid and the escrowed CTD is refunded to your balance in full. You can then place a new bid if you like.

Accepting a bid

The seller can accept any active bid. When a bid is accepted:

  • the escrowed CTD is paid to the seller;
  • ownership of the subdomain transfers to the bidder;
  • all other bids on that listing are refunded automatically;
  • the trade is recorded in the name's price history.

What happens to other bids

Whenever a listing is sold — whether bought outright or via an accepted bid — every remaining escrowed bid is released back to its bidder. Cancelling a listing also refunds all outstanding bids. You are never left with CTD stuck in a closed listing.

Tracking your bids

Your active bids are listed on your dashboard, where you can withdraw them at any time before they are accepted.
