Verification staking

Staking lets anyone lock CTD behind a certed.one subdomain to vouch for it. The more a name is staked, the higher its verification score — and stakers share in the reward if the domain sells.

The verification score

Every subdomain has a verification score from 0 to 99 shown as a shield badge on its page, in the directory and on the marketplace. The score grows with the total CTD staked on a logarithmic curve, so the first tokens move the needle the most and it takes exponentially more to approach a perfect score:

  • ~10 CTD → about 25
  • ~100 CTD → about 49
  • ~1,000 CTD → about 74
  • ~10,000 CTD → the maximum of 99

Many small stakers count for more

A wider base of stakers boosts the score. For the same total stake, a domain backed by many different people scores higher than one backed by a single whale — roughly 1.5× effective stake at ten stakers and 2× at a hundred. This rewards names the community broadly trusts rather than those propped up by one large holder.

How to stake

Open any subdomain's page and use the staking panel. Anyone signed in can stake on any domain — including names they don't own. The CTD is debited from your balance and locked to that domain. Staking again adds to your position and resets your lock.

The 24-hour lock

Staked CTD is locked for 24 hours before it can be withdrawn. After the lock elapses, use the withdraw control on the same panel to return part or all of your stake to your balance; the domain's score adjusts accordingly. Re-staking restarts the 24-hour countdown.

What happens when the domain sells

If a domain you've staked is sold — bought outright or through an accepted bid — your stake is settled automatically:

  • Your principal is returned in full to your balance.
  • 10% of the sale price is distributed to stakers as a reward, split by each staker's weight (your share of the total stake).
  • 3% of the sale price is burnt as a listing fee, permanently removing it from circulation.
  • the remaining proceeds go to the seller.

Every movement — your stake, withdrawal, and reward — is recorded on your balance page transaction history.

Things to keep in mind

  • Staked CTD is locked for at least 24 hours.
  • Rewards depend on whether and at what price the domain actually sells.
  • Your principal always comes back — on sale or on withdrawal after the lock — but rewards are never guaranteed. This is not financial advice.

Staking is closely tied to the wider token economy and the marketplace.
